This 18th century Gate Lodge was once the staff cottage of Lord Carbery who was a previous owner of Lough Ine House which he used as his hunting lodge. The lodge is situated on the banks of the largest salt water lough in Northern Europe and on 16 acres of woods and fields adjacent which form the Lough Ine Nature reserve and one of the most famous beauty spots in West Cork, near Skibbereen. It has been sensitively decorated in the simple style which suits its age and character
The ground floor is an open plan living room with a large fireplace, a dining area, a kitchenette and a spiral staircase leading to a twin bedroom overlooking the lough, a single bedroom and a bathroom with basin, W.C, bath and shower. Sleeps 3-4 people. You can enjoy your own private spot in the woods where you will find a table and benches or you can use one of the rowing boats to explore the beauties of the Lough or have a picnic on one of the islands small beaches.
